Japan Airlines launched its daily flights between Helsinki and Tokyo one year ago. The popular route supports Finavia's goal to promote Helsinki Airport as Northern Europe's leading transit airport.

The first anniversary of the Helsinki-Tokyo route operated by Japan Airlines was marked with a celebratory spirit. Passengers were treated to sparkling wine and snacks at the airport to mark the occasion.

The Helsinki to Tokyo route is popular with business travellers and holidaymakers alike. The anniversary flight was fully booked with 186 passengers on board.

Helsinki Airport invests in services for transit passengers

At Helsinki Airport, Finavia has invested in international transit services with a particular focus being placed on Asian transit passengers. An example of this being put into practice is the translation of airport signs and website services into Japanese. In addition, Japanese citizens with biometric passports can complete their border control conveniently and with minimum fuss at the automatic border control.

Helsinki Airport is one of the most important airports for traffic between Japan and Europe. Its location enables passengers to enjoy the fastest and most direct route between Asia and Europe.
