Flybe launched traditional summer holiday season flights to Visby on the Gotland island on 12 June.

According to Flybe, Finnish families with children in particular have really found Gotland as a place to spend their holiday in. It is no wonder: the island has twice been selected as the best resort for children.

According to Flybe, the popularity of Gotland is shown by the fact that a large share of flights to Gotland have already been sold prior to the summer season. A large share of passengers are families with children.

Gotland is particularly known as a fairytale island which is the venue for a large number of beloved children's movies, such as Pippi Långstrump. In addition, the island has a very well preserved medieval city with a fortress.

The fairytale aspect is also included in surprises distributed to children on Flybe flights, and in announcements by the cabin crew.

The summer's first flight from Helsinki to Visby took place on 12 June. Flybe provides connections between Visby and Helsinki until 31 August 2014 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

The prices of one-way flights of about an hour to Gotland start from €69. Children at the age of 2-11 will get a 33% discount from the price of an adult ticket excluding tax.
