Finavia will begin the expansion work of Terminal 2 in spring 2019. Before the actual construction work can begin, some preparation work will be carried out.

The first construction sites will be set up on Monday August 27 between P3 and P2 on the Parkkitie road, on the exit route of T2 on the Terminaalitie road and in front of P5 on the Tutkatie road. The construction sites will cause some changes to the vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

  • The number of short-term parking spaces in front of P3 will be reduced slightly. However, drivers dropping by in T1 can also park their vehicles short term in P3 for the same price. More information about parking here.
  • Tutkatie will become a one-way road starting from the Terminaalitie road. This means that the only way to exit P5 is to turn to the right towards the Teletie road. The way to the Terminaalitie road will be via the Lentäjäntie road. Also the drivers parking in P6 and P8 should keep this in mind. On the other hand, P5 can be entered using the normal route via the Terminaalitie road to the Tutkatie road and into P5.
  • The pedestrian tunnel between P5 and Terminal 1 will be out of service.

Other changes are not planned but drivers and pedestrians are asked to exercise caution around the construction sites.

Until the end of the year, installation work on water, sewage, district heating and electrical conduits will be done in the construction sites and the pipelines will be connected to the main network. After the pipeline work is finished, the demolition of the car park P1/P2 can begin. At the moment, the demolition work is expected to commence at the begin of January.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the construction work.

The pipeline work is connected to the expansion project of Terminal 2, the progress of which is reported on our website. You can read more about the expansion project below.
