During September, there will be a lot of passengers passing through Helsinki Airport. We kindly ask passengers to reserve some extra time for check-in, bag-drop and security control.

In the busiest days, and during the busiest hours in the mornings and afternoons, waiting times in the security control may be slightly longer than usual. As usual, we do our best to ensure smooth travelling, and we kindly ask passengers to check our travelling tips in advance.

If you are travelling with luggage that is labelled as airplane cargo, we recommend you reserve more time than usual for check-in and bag-drop.

Bikes, skis, and golf bags are handled as special luggage at the airport. At Helsinki Airport, there are separate check-in desks in the Departures hall for special luggage. Also, your airline will provide more information on travelling with special luggage.

If you are travelling with carry-on luggage, we recommend that you check-in online at home before your flight. This way, you may proceed to security control directly upon arrival at the airport

You can also check how the security control works at Helsinki Airport, and what you can do to make your security control smoother.

Prepare for your flight in advance

When you are packing your bags, you may check Finavia’s packing instructions for information on what to pack in your carry-on luggage, and what you can pack in luggage travelling in the airplane cargo.

You may also book your parking in advance at Helsinki Airport. Booking in advance guarantees the best price. For example, parking hall P2 is great for larger vehicles and has direct lift access to the terminal.
