Air Baltic will launch direct routes from Finavia’s Tampere Airport to Tenerife and Kittilä in November and December 2023. A winter season route from Riga to Agadir, Morocco, also enables smooth onward travel from Tampere to North Africa.

Tampere Airport’s route offering will increase in the winter. In November, Air Baltic will start direct flights to Tenerife, the Canary Islands, and from December, the airline will fly to Kittilä, Lapland. Both flights will be operated twice a week.

“Air Baltic’s new routes are very welcome at Tampere Airport! The international and domestic route offering of the Tampere region will improve for the winter, as passengers will have access not only to a favourite destination in Lapland, Kittilä, but also to a direct route to the beaches of Tenerife,” says Petri Vuori, Finavia’s SVP responsible for route development.

Tampere Airport has been a base airport of Air Baltic since 2022. This summer, the airline will operate direct flights from Tampere to a total of eight European destinations.

Flights to the beaches of Tenerife from November

Air Baltic’s scheduled flights from Tampere Airport to Tenerife will start on 1 November. During the winter season, the route will be flown twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The flights are operated with the 145-seat Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The estimated flight time to Tenerife is 7 hours, and the estimated flight time of the return is 6 hours 25 minutes.

Flights to Kittilä from December onwards

Air Baltic’s route to Kittilä is the company’s first domestic route in Finland. The first flight to Lapland’s popular winter holiday destination will take place just before Christmas on 22 December. The route is operated with the Airbus A220-300 aircraft twice a week, on Fridays and Sundays. The estimated flight time is 1 hour 20 minutes.

Africa is only a transfer away

Air Baltic’s new winter routes will also open up Africa to transfer passengers from Tampere. In a press release , the airline announced that it would launch a direct route from its home base of Riga to Agadir, Morocco, on 4 November 2023. In winter, Air Baltic will also fly from Riga to Marrakech, Morocco.
