Are you hypersensitive to fragrances? How to bypass the fragrance shops at the airport

Tax free shops selling perfumes and fragrances are among the most popular services at Helsinki Airport. Near the shops, there are scents that may cause symptoms for passengers with fragrance allergies or hypersensitivity.

If you are hypersensitive to fragrances and your flight departure is from Terminal 2, we recommend that you pass through the security control near check-in area 240-270 or in the second floor of the departure hall. The security control near check-in area 240-270 is open daily between 05 AM - 8 PM and the security control at the second floor between 04 AM - 9 PM.

You can also use the security control line for families travelling with children, located at the right end of the security control area. By doing that, you will avoid passing through the big tax free shop and will go directly to the terminal waiting facilities.

In Terminal 1, people hypersensitive to fragrances can ask for assistance to bypass the fragrance shop from the shop staff. You can also agree on an alternative route with the shop supervisor.

Check whether your own airline operates from Terminal 1 or Terminal 2.

In addition to the security checkpoint for those hypersensitive to fragrances, they can wait for their flight on the terrace of Espresso House, on the second floor above Gate 29. The terrace is open during the bar opening hours. You are not required to use the café services to access the terrace.
