Founded in 1945, Portugal’s national carrier TAP Portugal celebrates its 70th anniversary this year. The airline flies from Helsinki Airport to Lisbon five times a week.

TAP Portugal was first to start commercial air traffic between Lisbon and Madrid. Soon after its inaugural flights, more distant destinations were added, such as Angola’s capital Luanda and Maputo in Mozambique.

These days, TAP Portugal continues to connect European cities to numerous overseas destinations in North and South America and Africa. TAP Portugal is the largest international carrier operating between Europe and Brazil. Its route network entails 75 destinations in 34 different countries.

From Helsinki to Lisbon five times a week

From Helsinki Airport TAP Portugal operates five weekly flights to Lisbon. Regular operations began for the summer season of 2009. The sunny southern destination attracts many Finnish holidaymakers.

- We are proud to fly to Helsinki Airport and being able to offer our Finnish passengers a direct connection from Helsinki to Lisbon and to connect Finland to Africa and Central and South America, says João Morais, Area Manager for the Nordic and Baltic Countries.

TAP Portugal is noted among its passengers for its level of service and in-flight refreshments.

- The flight from Helsinki to Lisbon takes a bit over five hours. We want to make passengers feel they are in Portugal the minute they board their flight. We offer Portuguese wines and food to create this atmosphere. Good service is of course, important, Morais continues.
