Helsinki Airport offers even more Finnish design in celebration of the centenary of Finland's independence. In addition to iconic design labels, the airport now features a number of new rising Finnish brands.

Finavia is an official partner of Finland 100, and Finnish aspects are displayed at Helsinki Airport and its other Finnish airports in various ways throughout the year. Finavia wants to provide Finnish entrepreneurs and brands with visibility in the most international sales location in Finland. In addition, individual Finnish brands present a new unique range at the airport.

Arctic World of Santa Claus

Arctic World of Santa Claus presents Finland and the Finnish feel in a whole new way. In addition to buying products, passengers can experience the Finnish nature and culture in the form of photos, videos and music. Passengers can also visit the experience shop to take a breather before their flight.

“The experience shop offers passengers a piece of Finland and an opportunity to experience Finland, the Finnish lifestyle and the Finnish feel. The shop changes its content four times a year according to seasons, and it always has something new and wonderful to offer,” says Petri Paarnio, brand ambassador at Santa Claus Licensing.

Some of the products offered at Arctic World of Santa Claus have been selected on the basis of Best Gift from Finland, a social media competition with 75 Finnish brands participating. Customers were able to select the most attractive products to be offered at the shop.

“A brand must have a story and a promise. By means of a competition, we also challenged smaller designers to think about their brand, and this gave us a lot of positive feedback later. For many not so well-known brands, it is important to have a sales location at an airport,” Paarnio says.

Arctic World of Santa Claus displays dozens of Finnish brands and products made in Finland following the principle of sustainable development. What is more, new brands will be presented every week. The most popular products include Lastu mobile phone covers, jewellery and watches, Lumi bags, Costo hats, Pig Picture illustrations and cards, Kauniste textiles and Flora of Finland posters. The shop has also sold products of the Santa Claus Foundation, of which the Finngold jewellery and watch collection is one of the most popular, week after week. Some of the proceeds of the foundation are donated to charity.

“Many have said that this is the best shop they have visited in Finland,” Paarnio says proudly.
