Finavia’s airports will offer direct flights to more than 140 destinations in Finland and around the world during the coming summer and autumn. The summer season will bring several historic new routes that strengthen Finland’s international connectivity.

“Finavia’s airports offer diverse scheduled flight connections this summer season, both to Europe’s most popular holiday destinations and to exciting new long-haul destinations. This summer, two of the world’s largest airlines will begin operations at Helsinki Airport: China Southern Airlines launched flights from Beijing in March, and Emirates will start flights from Dubai in October. These new openings reflect both Finland’s attractiveness and Helsinki Airport’s strong role as a smooth transfer hub between Europe and Asia, as well as Europe and the Middle East,” says Petri Vuori, Finavia’s Senior Vice President responsible for route development.

Among the new summer routes from Finavia’s regional airports is the highly anticipated Oulu–Riga connection, operated by Air Baltic five times a week.

Finnair will open a total of 12 new routes for the summer. New regional airport routes include a service from Kittilä to Alta in Norway, and from Vaasa to Umeå in Sweden.

From Helsinki Airport, Finnair’s new European destinations include Catania, Florence, Kos, Kuressaare, Luxembourg, Stavanger, Thessaloniki, Tirana, Turin and Valencia. Among long-haul routes, Finnair will resume flights to Toronto, Canada. In addition, its North American destinations this summer include New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle.

Norwegian will also start flights to Tirana, Albania.

A new European airline is entering Helsinki Airport as Luxair begins flights to Luxembourg.

Two of the world’s largest airlines coming to Helsinki Airport

China Southern Airlines launched a new scheduled route from Beijing to Helsinki Airport at the start of the summer season. The new route is the airline’s first scheduled connection to Northern Europe. Flights between Beijing Daxing International Airport and Helsinki Airport will initially operate three times per week, increasing to daily service from Midsummer onwards.

In October, ahead of the school autumn holidays, another historic route opening will take place when Emirates begins daily flights from Dubai to Helsinki Airport.

International airline operations follow a seasonal timetable, with the winter and summer seasons determining the offering of flight connections. The summer season starts on 29 March and ends on 24 October 2026. Airlines make independent decisions about their routes, and new connections may also be added during the season. Additionally, flight schedules and routes may change as the season progresses.
