Those with room to spare in their suitcases should head to Finspiration, which carries a selection of affordable keepsakes from Finland and Scandinavia.

Part of a great trip is looking for that special gift to bring back for your loved ones or for yourself. The task isn’t always easy, however, as there are often quite a few ideas available and factors, such as cost, to consider.

Of course, it doesn't matter how little a gift costs since it’s the thought behind it that ultimately counts. Any token given is appreciated.

Those with room to spare in their suitcases should head to Finspiration (Gate 26; Gate 34), which carries a selection of souvenirs from Finland and Scandinavia.

“With its uniqueness, pure nature and uncompromising aesthetics, we really feel that Finland is truly an inspirational place to visit and something extraordinary to remember. We would like you to take a little piece of those experiences back home with you,” says Maria Böhling, shop manager of Finspiration by Kankurin Tupa.

The store makes it a point to keep an eye on trends and feature items that other shops don’t offer. Fans of the holiday season will be pleased to discover that every day is Christmas at Finspiration, where reindeer-themed objects abound.

“Finland is the one and only home of Santa Claus. It’s more than natural that we do our part and contribute to the Christmas spirit all year round,” continues Böhling.

Apart from Santa, the Moomins are probably the most adored literature characters to come out of Finland. Created by the Swedish-speaking Finnish writer and artist Tove Jansson in the 1940s, these fairy tale creatures are very popular among locals and tourists alike.

If you want a memento of your time in Finland, but don’t want to spend too much, Finspiration has souvenirs for €10 and under. According to Böhling, you can find a nice selection of Moomin items such as pencils, pens, note pads, key chains, pins, luggage tags, magnets and charms.

Other keepsakes include shot glasses (€6–10), Helsinki and Finland magnets (€6–8), souvenir spoons (€6–10€), stickers (€2.50–5) and key chains (€4–8).
