Difficult weather conditions are continueing. Due to a strong side wind only one runway is in use instead of three runways.

Delays are expected also during the evening. Airlines will do their best to return to the normal flight schedule.

As to the timetables, cancellations or baggage delays we kindly ask passengers to turn to their own airline.

Real time flight information is available on Helsinki Airport web site.

Due to strong side wind only one runway has been in use at Helsinki Airport and the capacity has been much lower than usual. At the same time difficult weather conditions have delayed flights from Central Europe. Altogether, flight rotation is affected quite a lot.

Finavia's winter maintenance team at Helsinki Airport has workd at full pace and did their best to keep the runway open and to ensure smooth landings and take-offs despite the snow fall.

Finnish snow-how is globally well-known and recognised. When it comes to snow the airport has been closed for 30 minutes only once since year 2003. At Helsinki Airport we can clear the runways from snow in 11 minutes.

We invest in high quality maintenance vehicles and equipment as well as in training and education of our staff. The excellent co-operation and communication with all airport parties is an asset for our winter success. We develop and rehearse winter processes regularly.
