The inaugural flight of the new route will take place on 23 December 2026, and the service will operate once a week on Wednesdays until 24 March 2027.
Discover Airlines, part of the Lufthansa Group, currently operates flights from Frankfurt, Germany, to Kittilä Airport.
“The expansion of Discover Airlines’ flights to Ivalo Airport is welcome news! Finnish Lapland continues to grow in popularity among German travellers,” says Petri Vuori, SVP, Route Development at Finavia.
With the new route, the Lufthansa Group further strengthens its route offering between Central Europe and Lapland. During the current winter season, airlines within the Lufthansa Group have flown to Ivalo Airport from Frankfurt, Vienna, Düsseldorf and Zürich.
