The exercise will have no impact on air traffic, and the airport will operate normally during the drill. The exercise will not cause any inconvenience to the public. However, for safety and to ensure the smooth running of the exercise, unnecessary movement in the vicinity of the airport is requested to be avoided.
The exercise aims to strengthen the preparedness and readiness of authorities and stakeholders for a large-scale aviation accident in the airport environment and fulfills the exercise requirement set by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Annual multi-agency exercises are also used to enhance cooperation between various authorities and partners.
Participants in the exercise include Finavia, Finnair, Fintraffic, HUS, Eastern Uusimaa Police, Central Uusimaa Rescue Department, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Norra, Norwegian, the Vantaa-Kerava wellbeing services county’s emergency medical services and social and crisis services, the Finnish Red Cross, Finnish Customs, the Finnish Border Guard, and the Safety Investigation Authority Finland.
