Lufthansa and its subsidiary Austrian Airlines are opening a total of three new routes to Lapland for the coming winter season. Lufthansa will launch scheduled flights from Frankfurt to Rovaniemi in November 2024, while Austrian will open routes from Vienna to Kittilä and Ivalo in December 2024 and January 2025 respectively.

“The new route openings will boost the record growth in tourism in Lapland that we have already witnessed in previous winter seasons. The increased route connections are a testament to Lapland's international appeal and demonstrate the good cooperation we are doing with our partners to develop Finland's accessibility," says Petri Vuori, Finavia’s SVP, Sales & Route Development.

Lufthansa will operate scheduled flights between Frankfurt and Rovaniemi twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, from 30 November 2024 to 29 March 2025.

Austrian will operate flights from Vienna to Kittilä and Ivalo airports once a week: flights to Kittilä on Sundays from 8 December 2024 to 16 March 2025 and flights to Ivalo on Saturdays from 25 January to 1 March 2025.

Austrian will also continue the Vienna-Rovaniemi route, which it started in December 2023, next winter. Flights to Rovaniemi will be operated once a week on Saturdays, with an additional 11 weekly flights on Wednesdays.

Detailed flight schedules and tickets are now available on Lufthansa’s and Austrian’s websites.
