Helsinki Airport offers non-stop flights to 145 destinations in over 50 countries around the world. From the birthplace of Aphrodite to a city that’s sunny 360 days a year, here are interesting, lesser known spots you might want to consider for your next holiday.

Picking a place to visit can sometimes be overwhelming as there are so many fascinating countries with plenty of things to see and do. On the other hand, deciding where to go could also be one of the most exciting parts of your holiday, especially if it’s somewhere you’ve never been to.

Helsinki Airport offers non-stop flights to 145 destinations in over 50 countries around the world. These include over 120 cities in Europe and the Middle East, 18 in Asia, and 7 in the Americas.

Of course, while cities such as Paris, New York and Rome will always be popular for holidaymakers, there too are other slightly lesser known spots you can fly to direct from Helsinki Airport. Here are some that are worth considering.

Paphos, Cyprus

Known as the birthplace of Aphrodite, Paphos is a charming Mediterranean city that combines the ancient and the modern. If beaches are your thing, Paphos is dotted with several, such as Alykes, Pharos and Cape Arnauti.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

The beach resort city is located on the Pacific Ocean’s Bahía de Banderas, with its 42 kilometers of sandy coastline. Whether it’s Conchas Chinas to the south or Playa de Oro to the north, you can wander the golden sands packed with either restaurant-bars or tide pools.

Chengdu, China

For those who wish to explore China beyond the Beijing and Shanghai, Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province in the southwest, is an excellent place to start. Apart from being known for its cuisine, Chengdu is also home to the country’s leading panda breeding facility.

Eilat, Israel

With an average of 360 sunny days a year, Eilat is a must-visit for lovers of warm weather. The Red Sea, surrounded by beautiful mountains, makes the resort town one of the world’s best scuba diving locations.

Nagoya, Japan

The birthplace of Toyota and the pinball-style game pachinko, Japan’s fourth largest city has excellent museums, temples and shopping along with green spaces and well-maintained parks.
