At Finavia’s airports in Ivalo, Kittilä, and Rovaniemi, air traffic restrictions and disruptions have been in place since 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, due to severe weather conditions. Flight operations have resumed at Ivalo and Kittilä airports in the evening. At Rovaniemi Airport, air traffic remains suspended due to weather conditions. Weather conditions, wind strength, and the continuation of air traffic are being continuously assessed in cooperation with air traffic control.

For example, at Kittilä Airport, two arriving aircraft veered off the taxiway due to strong winds after 4:00 p.m. No injuries occurred as a result of these incidents.

If aircraft cannot land at their original airport due to weather conditions, they will be diverted to other airports or return to their point of departure. This also affects departing flights, causing delays to their schedules.

We kindly ask passengers, greeters, and escorts to follow the instructions provided by their airline.

Flights arriving at and departing from Finavia airports can be found on Finavia’s website. Flight information is updated normally as airlines report changes.

At Kittilä Airport, flight operations were able to resume at around 8:00 p.m. Traffic is recovering gradually. We continue to monitor the development of weather conditions.

The impact of winter storm Hannes on traffic at Helsinki Airport and other airports will be assessed as the storm progresses. We will update this bulletin as necessary.

Updated at 9:05 p.m.: Flight operations at Ivalo Airport resumed at around 9:00 p.m.

Updated at 8:28 p.m.: Flight operations at Kittilä Airport resumed at around 8:00 p.m.
