Raising funds for children
Since 2009, Finavia has promoted well-being among the children of the world in cooperation with the development cooperation organisation Plan International Finland. The funds raised have been used for the everyday needs of children in developing countries.
Passengers can make a donation by dropping coins left over from their travels in Pastilli fund raising boxes. There are five bright-green Pastilli boxes at Helsinki Airport and some more at the Oulu and Kokkola-Pietarsaari airports. Pastilli has been designed by the Finnish designer Eero Aarnio.
In addition, passengers can leave their empty bottles and cans at Plan’s sorting locations from where they are recycled via the Finnish bottle refund system. The refunds from returned bottles are donated to Plan. The sorting locations are in front of the security control checkpoints.
Finavia supports Finnish families with children by annually taking part in the Hyvä Joulumieli (Christmas Spirit) campaign, organised by the Finnish Red Cross and the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare.
The Art Port concept promotes Finnish art
Finavia’s art concept, Art Port, gives artists an opportunity to have their work on display for a wider Finnish and international audience, while also offering places for passengers to stop and find time and space to relax in the hectic airport environment.
Finavia’s airports showcase the works that have been acquired in the company’s own art collection from well-known and esteemed Finnish artists. Furthermore, Finavia cooperates with art museums and galleries to borrow works of art to put on display at Helsinki Airport. The airport also features changing free photograph and art exhibitions.
Finavia is the official partner of the Finnish Olympic Committee. We are proud to bring friends of sport and team spirits from all over the world together at our airports. In a group, individuals’ good performances are turned into heroic deeds – both in sport and service.
In addition, Finavia carries out sponsorship cooperation with the World Cup Levi event.
Selection of projects for sponsorship is based on the principle of reciprocity. In other words, we expect to be able to use the cooperation in other stakeholder relations and the sponsorship should also create media visibility.
When making donations, we adhere to our charity and sponsorship policy: we do not make donations to political parties, politicians or political institutions.
