Our business

Finavia Group provides air traffic services to airlines and passengers.

Finavia has two business areas: Helsinki Airport and Network Airports. Our subsidiary Airpro Oy produces ground handling and passenger services

Our turnover consists of income from air traffic as well as other revenues; these include parking revenues, commercial revenues, rental income from properties and Airpro's revenues.

Helsinki Airport is the main airport in Finland and the best airport in Northern Europe in terms of its service level. Thanks to its unique geographical location, Helsinki Airport is a gateway between the East and the West.

The network airports provide smooth connections for regional businesses and leisure travellers. There are a total of 19 regional airports, of which 17 serve passenger traffic and two serve military and general aviation.

The airports in Lapland are a gateway to the magical North: pure nature, snow, the Northern Lights and Santa Claus are only a few steps away.

Finavia is a significant investor

The economic and social benefits of air traffic for society are significant.

  • In Finland, air traffic directly or indirectly employs around 100,000 people.
  • This accounts for about three per cent of Finland’s GDP.
  • The aviation industry pays around EUR 2.5 billion in direct or indirect taxes.

Approximately 1,500 companies and organisations operate at Finavia’s airports, employing almost 20,000 people in total.

At Finavia, we are constantly investing in the development of our airports. We carry out annual repair and maintenance investments at our airports, such as repaving of runways and renovation of terminals, with tens of millions of euros

These investments improve service quality at airports and often also in the vicinity of airports, help maintain good flight connections, and provide jobs for Finns.

The 10-year development programme of Helsinki Airport alone has employed nearly 17,000 people (man-years), and the programme's degree of domestic origin is about 90 per cent.

In recent years, we have made our most significant investments at Helsinki Airport and in Lapland, but at the same time, we have also developed our other airports.
