The story of Helsinki Airport exhibition

The exhibition takes you on a journey through the airport’s history — from the 1950s to the present day and from major events to employees’ memories over the years.

The story of Helsinki Airport began in 1952 when Helsinki was awarded the opportunity to host the Summer Olympics. The new airport was built in the Rural Municipality of Helsinki on a quick schedule. One runway, an air navigation services building and a wooden passenger building were completed in the first phase of development. The airport was referred to as Seutula because it was located along the rural road from Tuusulantie to Seutula.

How did the wooden passenger building develop over the years? When did Helsinki Airport get its current name? You can find the answers to these and many other questions at The story of Helsinki Airport exhibition!

In addition to the exhibition, there is also a scale model of Helsinki Airport in the space.
