Do you need a break from the hustle and bustle of the airport? Have a relaxing massage, take a nap in a sleep pod or recharge your batteries at one of the lounges.

Airports tend to be busy places, especially during the afternoon rush hours. Finavia, however, wants to provide passengers with the experience of refreshment and a sense of time at its airports.

Therefore, Finavia’s airports offer many opportunities to find a moment of solitude and relaxation.

Here are some tips for starting your trip relaxed or unwinding during layover:

Get rid of neck tension – have a massage

Start your holiday in a relaxed mode by having a massage before boarding the plane. Rela-Hierojat on the second floor of the Schengen side at Terminal 2 offers classical and sports massages designed to fit passengers’ needs. The selection includes, for example, a quick 25-minute massage for the neck and shoulders which helps to unwind an office worker’s tense neck. If pampering is what you need, you might find a relaxing hot stone massage or Finnish-style head massage an appealing choice. Book your appointment online or simply pop in to inquire about free slots.

Take a refreshing nap in a sleep pod

Looking for some privacy? The GoSleep sleep pods offer a peaceful hideout for resting or working. The pod’s moveable shade cuts out sound and light. During use, hand luggage can be stored safely under the seat, which can also be converted into a bed. Each pod is equipped with an electric socket and USB charger. The GoSleep pod is a Finnish innovation, and Helsinki Airport was the first airport in Europe to adopt them.

Between 9 pm and 6 pm, the service is subject to a charge. Outside these hours, you can use the pods for free. There are also special package deals for longer snoozes. You can pay by cash (euros) or by credit card to the on-site staff.

Recharge your batteries at a lounge

In addition to airlines’ own lounges, there are several other lounges at Helsinki Airport which all passengers can enjoy. The lounges give you an opportunity to take a breather and enjoy the trip before boarding the plane. There are three pay-per-use lounges, where passengers can eat and drink, rest and even take a refreshing shower, or work in peace and quiet away from people’s eyes.

The Aspire Lounge serves passengers in the Schengen area, while in the non-Schengen area, the Almost @ Home Lounge and the Plaza Premium Lounge welcome all passengers. You can book your seat at a lounge through Finavia’s online service for a reduced price.

The Kainuu Lounge in the Schengen area is a calm space that is always open for anyone to use, free of charge. The interior design includes comfortable seats and soft rugs. The Kainuu Lounge also hosts a Book Swap, where you can find something to read or leave your old books for other passengers to enjoy.
