“It’s great that Wizz Air is expanding its route selection at Turku Airport! The new connection to Vilnius, along with the route to Bucharest that started in October, offers attractive new opportunities for passengers and businesses in Turku and the surrounding areas,” says Petri Vuori, Director responsible for route development at Finavia.

Speakers at the route launch event held at Turku Airport included Edvilas Raudonikis, Lithuania’s Ambassador to Finland; Piia Elo, Mayor of Turku; Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Head of Corporate Communications at Wizz Air; and Juha Aaltonen, Turku Airport Manager at Finavia.

“This past year has been excellent for the development of air traffic in our region. New international connections increase passenger choice, support business operations, and strengthen Turku’s position as an attractive and easily accessible city,” said Turku Mayor Piia Elo.

At the opening event, passengers on the inaugural flight were offered Finnish sweets, and a gift card to a Lithuanian spa was raffled among the travelers.

The flight time from Vilnius to Turku is one hour and 25 minutes. Flights to Lithuania’s capital will operate from Turku three to four times per week, using the A321neo aircraft type.
