Finnair will resume flights from Tampere and Turku airports to Helsinki Airport in October 2026, reconnecting passengers from Tampere and Turku to Helsinki Airport’s extensive route network.

“Tampere and Turku are strong growth hubs, and we have maintained an ongoing dialogue with the regions about opportunities to provide smoother global connections and thereby better support business growth as well as the needs of tourism. The flights launching in October will seamlessly connect Tampere and Turku to Finnair’s extensive network,” says Finnair CEO Turkka Kuusisto in the company’s press release.

“We are pleased about Finnair’s upcoming openings to Finland’s strong regional growth centres. The new routes will further strengthen domestic accessibility by connecting passengers from Tampere and Turku to Helsinki Airport’s comprehensive route network,” says Petri Vuori, Senior Vice President, Route Development, Finavia

Starting in October, Finnair will operate one daily overnight flight to both Tampere and Turku Airports, connecting customers to Finnair’s morning departures to Europe as well as evening return flights to Helsinki. In addition to the overnight flights, Finnair will also bring customers from Turku and Tampere to Helsinki in the afternoons: the flight from Oulu to Helsinki will stop in Tampere, while the flight from Stockholm to Helsinki will stop in Turku before continuing to Helsinki.

The flights will be operated with ATR aircraft seating 68–70 passengers. Finnair replaced flights from Helsinki Airport to Tampere and Turku Airports with bus connections in 2022–2023. When flights resume in October 2026, the daytime bus connection will continue, but the late evening service will be discontinued and replaced by an overnight flight.

Finnair operates flights from several airports in Finland

This summer, Finnair connects Helsinki Airport with direct scheduled flights to a total of 13 airports in Finland. From Helsinki Airport, Finnair operates scheduled services to the airports of Ivalo, Joensuu, Jyväskylä, Kajaani, Kemi-Tornio, Kittilä, Kokkola-Pietarsaari, Kuopio, Kuusamo, Mariehamn, Oulu, Rovaniemi and Vaasa.

Finnair’s domestic connections during the winter season are likewise comprehensive, and flights to Lapland airports in particular will increase significantly. Finnair is the only airline operating year-round flights to destinations in Lapland.

Among Finnair’s new route launches for next autumn is also the opening of a new Helsinki–Melbourne route, likewise starting in October.
