Ticketless parking is part of Finavia’s continuous development of ground access at Helsinki Airport. Finavia actively collects customer feedback and develops its services to improve the smoothness of travel.
In ticketless parking, the customer’s vehicle is automatically identified at the entrance based on the license plate, and no physical parking ticket is needed. The change makes parking smoother and reduces concerns about keeping track of a parking ticket at the end of a trip.
The reform will begin in April and be completed in full during May 2026. Parking is already ticketless in the P1 Premium and P2 parking halls.
Even smoother parking
Drivers can enter Finavia’s parking halls and outdoor areas directly at any time of day. In the future, the barrier will open automatically at the entrance once the vehicle is recognized by camera-based license plate recognition. Upon returning from the trip, parking can be paid for at a payment machine or at the exit by entering the vehicle’s license plate number. After payment, the barrier will open automatically at the exit.
Cash payments for parking will continue to be possible at Finavia’s information desk, which is located on the first floor of the airport terminal.
To ensure ticketless parking operates smoothly, license plates must be clean and easily readable, for example free of snow and dirt.
Finavia continues to recommend booking parking in advance as the primary option, as this allows customers to secure a parking space that suits their needs, the best price, and a smooth parking experience.
In addition to parking tickets, paper payment receipts will also become a thing of the past. With the reform, payment machines in the P3, P4 and P5 parking areas will no longer print paper receipts. Instead, customers can download the receipt to their own device via a QR code at the time of payment. Receipts can also be retrieved online for up to seven days after the end of parking by entering the license plate number, parking area and payment date.
