Turku Airport can now be accessed ecologically with the first electrically powered bus introduced by Föli, Turku Region Traffic, in early October. The bus will be operating on Line 1, which connects Turku Airport, the Market Place and the Port of Turku.

This is Föli’s first bus powered exclusively by electricity, but electric buses will gradually become a more common sight in traffic. Another five will be added to Line 1 by the end of the year. After that, all traffic between Turku Airport and the city centre will be handled by electric vehicles.

Electric buses play an important part in reducing traffic emissions. They also have low noise levels and operating costs. The bus batteries are charged to full capacity at night at the depot, and in the daytime, they can be recharged at the end stops using the fast-charging stations supplied by Turku Energia.

The design of the new buses places special attention on travel comfort. Passengers can connect their mobile devices to the bus Wi-Fi and use USB ports to recharge their devices, provided they have their own cable with them. Electronic information boards and outdoor announcements also add to the ease of travel.
