Passengers must check the entry and quarantine regulations of their country of destination before leaving for a trip.
If travellers return to Finland from a third country via the Baltic countries, Denmark, Norway or Iceland, self-isolation is recommended in Finland for 14 days.
“We are glad that the coronavirus situation has improved in Finland and in the nearby countries. We still emphasise the importance of all measures which ensure safe travel. We recommend that passengers wear masks and maintain safe distances from other passengers and staff members when moving about at the airport,” says Ulla Lettijeff, Helsinki Airport’s Airport Director from Finavia.
Travelling to other Schengen countries is possible for essential reasons. For the time being, leisure travel to other countries is not recommended. No travel restrictions are in place on domestic flights.
Return traffic to Finland, transit traffic at Helsinki Airport and other essential traffic is allowed at the external borders from non-Schengen countries. Family members of Finnish citizens may enter the country regardless of nationality.
We also recommend checking what one’s travel insurance covers in the event of a pandemic. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs points out there is the risk of reserved flights and other connections suddenly being cancelled and a return journey hindered.
All passengers can help prevent the spread of the coronavirus epidemic by complying with travel recommendations and hygiene instructions. While travelling, passengers must always comply with the guidelines issued by the authorities, airports and airlines, including wearing face masks that cover the nose and mouth.
- Air passenger, remember to check the check-list for passengers before arriving at the airport!
- Passengers arriving in Finland may transfer to a connecting flight and continue their journey in Finland.
