Instructions for passengers
Pack correctly – take into account the liquids rules and seasonal products
- At Helsinki Airport, liquids do not need to be removed from hand baggage at security control or packed in a transparent bag. Liquid packages of a capacity not exceeding 100 ml may be carried in hand baggage, no more than two litres per passenger in total.
- When travelling in the summer, it is particularly important to remember seasonal products such as sunscreen, after sun products, mosquito repellent and other creams – these must be packed in the cargo hold if the container size exceeds 100 ml.
- The liquid restrictions do not apply to liquid baby food, formula milk and special dietary products. You may carry the amount you will need during the flight in your hand baggage.
- At Helsinki Airport, electronic devices may also be left in the bag. Power banks and backup batteries must be packed in hand baggage and must not be packed in checked baggage.
Please also note that different airports may have different practices for handling liquids, so always check the instructions for your return flight.

The new Entry/Exit border-crossing system has been gradually introduced in the European Union since October 2025. According to the Finnish Border Guard, the EES border-crossing system improves the quality and efficiency of border control. It provides EU Member State authorities with up-to-date and reliable information on the entry, departure and stay of non-EU citizens in the Schengen area. The EES process is currently in use at the Helsinki Airport's border control checkpoints, but it does not apply to Finnish citizens. Read more on the Finnish Border Guard’s website.
