Easter is a popular time to travel, and this can also be seen at Helsinki Airport. This year, the busiest time for departures will be from Wednesday to Saturday, 13–16 April. The busiest days for returning passengers are Sunday and Monday, 17–18 April.

Passengers are advised to come to the airport well in advance on 13–16 April, especially for flights departing in the morning between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. or in the afternoon between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. It’s a good idea to leave enough time for checking in your bags and going through security control.

Queues may form at various service points, not only because of the large number of passengers but also because many of our employees are currently on sick leave. However, we will do our best to make sure your journey goes smoothly.

How to find more time to enjoy the start of your journey – five tips for air passengers

  1. Book your parking space in advance so that you can park your car in the parking area of your choice. Have you noticed our Easter offer for the new P2 parking hall?
  2. Pack liquids, sharp objects and other items properly in your bags. The packing instructions are available on our website.
  3. If you are flying out to spend Easter on the snowy slopes of the north or the Alps in Central Europe, we recommend checking the packing instructions for skiing equipment: Pack your skis, boards, avalanche packs and ski waxes correctly.
  4. Those heading for warmer weather can leave their winter clothes in storage at the Excess Baggage service point for the duration of their trip. You can buy sunscreen and other products you might need on your trip from the airport’s duty-free shops.
  5. Save time by exchanging currency at the airport before boarding. You can do this easily at a Forex currency exchange point.
