Brussels Airlines is expanding its route network by opening two new direct scheduled flight connections to Finnish Lapland. Brussels Airlines will open a route between Brussels and Kemi-Tornio and between Brussels and Kittilä during the winter season 2026–2027.

”The new direct scheduled flight connections from Brussels to Kemi-Tornio and Kittilä airports are good news for tourism in Northern Finland. The flights to Brussels will open extensive connections to other parts of Europe for passengers departing from Finland. In addition, the routes will serve Central European tourists, who have traditionally been a large group of tourists in Finnish Lapland,” says Petri Vuori, Finavia’s Senior Vice President, Route Development.

As a destination, Kemi offers tourists maritime nature with its archipelagos, hiking opportunities and adventure destinations for the whole family. From the Kemi-Tornio area, you can easily travel to other destinations in Lapland, Sea Lapland and Sweden. Due to its central location, Brussels is a short distance from France, Germany and the Netherlands. It is also easy to travel from Brussels to Belgium’s famous small towns, such as Bruges and Ghent, the city of Antwerp, which is associated with diamonds, and relaxed beach destinations such as Ostend.

According to Brussels Airlines’ press release, there will be 1-2 flights per week between Brussels and Kemi-Tornio from 25 December 2026 to 10 March 2027. According to the press release, the route between Brussels and Kittilä will be operated three times a week from 10 December 2026 to 27 March 2027.

Brussels Airlines is part of the Lufthansa Group. Lufthansa is among the world’s four largest airlines and is Europe’s largest airline group.

The state’s purchased traffic is currently in force at Kemi-Tornio Airport. In addition to purchased traffic, individual chartered flights are operated to the airport annually.
